From a technical perspective, precision casting is a simplified form of investment casting based on the lost wax process and provides real added value for cost-sensitive procurement.
Thanks to its high dimensional accuracy, subsequent machining or joining processes can often be minimised or completely avoided. Near-net-shape casting also enables notable weight reductions.
In terms of surface structure and dimensional tolerance, precision casting lies between true investment casting and sand casting. It is particularly well suited for robust components that cannot be produced using sand casting, but do not require the tight tolerances of full investment casting.
